Ensearch Fibreglass Hull Cleaner cleans up Cutty Sark in final stage of restoration:
Several cases of Ensearch’s Fibreglass Hull Cleaner are being used to give the legendary clipper ship the Cutty Sark a final clean up following lengthy renovation work on her at Greenwich, home of the historic exhibit.
Leading manufacturer of environmentally friendly boat cleaning products, Ensearch, is playing its part in the conservation of the Cutty Sark, by supplying the product which will be used to remove rust stains from the inside of the hull. Despite its name Fibreglass Hull Cleaner cleans more than just fibre glass and is highly effective on rust.
More than five years of painstaking work to restore the ship, whose construction consisted of a wooden hull on an iron frame, were carried out to stop deterioration, and a fire in 2007 set back the project by many months. Now the project is nearly complete and the Cutty Sark is due to reopen this spring. The order was placed by Ensearch dealer, Essex based TS Rigging, which is carrying out part of the works.
Cutty Sark is the last of the clipper ships, built in 1869, which sailed fast across the oceans delivering goods such as tea from China and was legendary in her achievements in repeatedly outsailing her competitor Thermopylae and regularly beating the fast steam ships of the time.
Ensearch Fibreglass Hull Cleaner can be purchased from Ensearch’s online shop at www.ensearch.co.uk as well as from chandlers around the UK.
